Auditing a class allows you to take a class for the purpose of self-improvement or general interest and not receive a grade or credit for the class. The procedure for students who wish to audit a class is provided below.


Auditing a course means that you may attend a course regularly without being required to take exams or complete assignments. You receive no college credit for audited courses. Requests to audit a course will be granted only if space is available in the course and permission has been given by the professor of the course.

学费 and fees are the same as that charged for credit courses. Students eligible for the 60+ tuition discount or employee tuition assistance for credit courses will not receive a reduction in tuition for audited courses. 金融援助 cannot be used to pay for audited courses. For audit enrollment, payment is due on the same day you enroll.

Credit enrollment cannot be converted to audit status and audit enrollment cannot be changed to credit enrollment. Students may not enroll for credit, 放弃课程, and then re-enroll for audit in the same course section. Audited courses will not be considered in determining full-time or part-time enrollment status and may not satisfy enrollment requirements for graduation.

To enroll to audit a course:

  • You will need to apply for admission if you don't have a current or active admissions application.
  • Students may request permission to audit a course beginning on the first day the class meets.

  • Obtain the signature of the professor.
